The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College is seeking a full-time Medical Director of Molecular and Genomic Pathology, This position reports directly to the Chairman of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and will be responsible for clinical and administrative oversight of both the Molecular Pathology and Molecular Hematopathology Laboratories.

 

Duties include overall quality assurance/quality improvement, regulatory compliance, resource management, medical direction and medical coverage. Responsibility for the overall organization of these laboratories includes but is not limited to: the evaluation and re-structuring of test menus, system architecture and space utilization as needed, validation of new equipment and procedures, results interpretation, assignment and distribution of professional sign-out responsibilities, conference organization and participation, and serving as the senior clinical molecular pathology laboratory liaison with physicians and surgeons at the Weill-Cornell Medical Center.

 

The Medical Director will work directly with Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian Hospital Clinical Genomics Initiative, building new healthcare solutions using genomic analytics and serving oncologists and other specialists. The Medical Director will help define, design, and build test menus, and interpret and articulate requirements and feedback from clients to the leadership and development team, helping to prioritize and create solutions roadmaps. The Medical Director will play an active role in this joint initiative, including serving on the Clinical Genomics Governance Committee and other sub-committees as needed. The Medical Director will work closely with the Englander Institute for Precision.

 

Applicants should have a national reputation for diagnostic expertise and scholarly accomplishments in an area of Molecular Genetic Pathology and Genomics. Prior administrative experience is required. Applicants should hold an M.D. or an M.D. and a Ph.D. degree (preferred), be certified by the American Board of Pathology in Molecular Genetic Pathology and be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure within New York State. Academic rank will be commensurate with the level of experience and academic accomplishments. Compensation will be competitive and an excellent benefits package is included.
